​​On the afternoon of December 11, the 75th academic lecture of the Jiao Hu Financial Forum series was successfully held in the Second Lecture Hall of the Graphic Information Building. Professor Liu Xinghua, a finance professor from the School of Finance at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled Analysis of the Current Chinese Economic and Financial Situation to teachers and students of the School of Finance. The lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Jiang Chonghui of the School of Finance and attended by some teachers and postgraduates of the school.

        ​Liu Xinghua conducted an in-depth analysis of China’s latest developments and policy orientations in the economic and financial fields, demonstrating the strong momentum and steady trend of China’s economy. He first reviewed the remarkable achievements China has made in its economy since the reform and opening-up—from achieving food and clothing security to comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, and then to the high-speed economic growth and high-quality development. Regarding the economic situation, Liu Xinghua pointed out that China is currently in the best development period since modern times, but at the same time, it is also facing unprecedented changes in the world in a century. Against this backdrop, China has actively improved the existing international order, strengthened global governance mechanisms, promoted the shift of the world economic center to the Asia-Pacific region, and effectively responded to tensions and turmoil in the international pattern. In terms of financial indicators, Liu Xinghua provided a series of macro-financial data. The data showed that in 2023, China’s gross domestic product (GDP) reached 126.06 trillion yuan, with an economic growth rate of 5.2%. The price index remained stable, foreign exchange reserves increased, and the external economy also showed a steady growth trend. 

    ​    ​​In addition, Liu Xinghua emphasized the spirit of the Central Financial Work Conference, which is to uphold and strengthen the Party’s overall leadership, take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance, and fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. In financial work, it is necessary to deeply grasp its political nature and people-centered nature, take accelerating the building of a strong financial country as the goal, take promoting high-quality financial development as the theme, and take deepening the structural reform of the financial supply side as the main line. At the same time, attention should be paid to enhancing the purity, professionalism, and combat effectiveness of the financial team, strengthening supervision in an all-round way, and preventing and resolving risks. Liu Xinghua stated that it is necessary to adhere to the general principle of seeking progress while maintaining stability, coordinate development and security, firmly hold the bottom line of preventing systemic financial risks, unswervingly follow the path of financial development with Chinese characteristics, accelerate the construction of a modern financial system with Chinese characteristics, continuously meet the growing financial needs of economic and social development and the people, and constantly open up new prospects for financial work in the new era.

    ​    ​Liu Xinghua’s lecture provided profound insights for understanding the current Chinese economic and financial situation, and demonstrated China’s steady development and positive actions in the economic and financial fields. Finally, Liu Xinghua also conducted exchanges and discussions with the teachers and students present, and gave valuable suggestions and guidance on the difficulties they encountered in their research. Thus, this academic lecture concluded successfully.
